Happy Thanksgiving :) I hope everyone is enjoying the company of their loved ones and family - enjoying pumpkin pie and getting sick from eating too many mashed potatoes...
Jay and I are once again celebrating an alternative thanksgiving. I call it this because three years ago for our first thanksgiving together, we made a turkey stuffed with jalapeno, whole cloves of garlic and hunks (yes, hunks) of butter. It was good, albeit a bit too spicy and certainly not traditional. So today we are going along the same lines with the jalapeno, but this time the meat of choice is pork ribs. Yes. Ribs. For Thanksgiving. You see - we went to the grocery store 2 nights ago to find the turkey freezer bin EMPTY. I once again stopped by the grocery store yesterday after work (bad idea) and they only had 20+ lb birds - way too much for two of us. SO - we're going to have the ribs for our feast today (with a side of candied yams and bbq baked beans from the nearby bbq pit - i picked them up yesterday after work as well - once again - bad idea). I am going to buy a turkey hopefully to have either this or next weekend for my traditional turkey dinner that I am dying to have. And in memory of tradition, I have one slice of pumpkin pie waiting for me in the fridge......
