I started training for a 10k race yesterday. Jay and I decided we'd train for and run in a 10k race this upcoming February. Until about a month ago, I had never even run 1 mile - nevermind 5 point something! Yesterday we started the week with a bit of strength training and stretching. Today - and here's the exciting part - I ran 2 miles!!! I actually ran 1.5 straight, walked for about .3, then ran the remaining .5. It's the most I have run at one time and I am proud!
One thing I am sure of: I need new sneakers! My feet are killing me, and the run would have been much more, ahem, enjoyable, if I had a bit more cushion under my footsies!!
