Made to last?

So my cell phone broke yesterday. No, I did not drop it! I simply closed it (after talking to Tricia actually) and one side of the hinge cracked off...and to make it worse the other side is cracked and will probably break soon too. This is quite frustrating (having to hold the two pieces of my phone together while talking on it) because I got it less than 2 years ago. I have been careful with it yet 3 months before I am due to get a new one (with Verizon's $100 credit) it happens to break on its own. There is no way I will be able to "wait it out" until that time so this weekend I have to go out and get a new phone.

The only good thing that comes out of this is I'll probably get one with the new Blue Tooth technology which allows me to use a wireless headset which will be quite nice while driving...

...which brings me to another topic. Why is it that older people who have this technology find it necessary to go about their daily errands with that stupid-looking headset on? Do they think it makes them look important? I can visualize the airport right now with dozens of people all "hooked in" to their phones, ignoring the salespeople at the magazine racks as they buy their $5 bottled water. It's like the movie Crash pointed out - people don't make eye-contact anymore and it's tearing apart our society.

SO. I will use my bluetooth, but only in the car or in the privacy of my own home...and I will continue to smile and say "hi" to people as I walk down the street...even though it sometimes scares the hell out of me here in Phoenix where that could get me shot!

...till the next time...

You may be able to convince Verizon that your contract is up for renewal now, and get your $100 towards a new phone. I talked to Verizon recently and they said that the beginning of May was when I qualified for a new phone, although I didn't get my phone originally until July of 2004.
