I think part of it is the recent death of my grandfather - perhaps part is also due to the cooler and greyer days of winter that are upon us. One thing that I have been craving like crazy is comfort food. Macaroni & cheese, beef stew, grilled cheese, etc. Tonight's fix is Chicken Fricassee - a family favorite from years back. I don't believe it is the traditional recipe; however it is one that I frequently requested on birthdays & other special holidays as my meal of choice. Tender chicken cooked in a gravy with fragrant celery - poured over biscuits that just soak it all in. It has been years since I have had this indulgence and tonight I get it again. I cannot wait for Jay to come home from work to share it with me!
I'm curious about you - what are your favorite recipes from "back in the day"? What smell just brings you back to that special time in your life?

Dork! Trying to sound all cool asking questions and trying to get us to engage ourselves in your blog. I give you props for updating, but I need a little more.
Luv ya sis, less than 10 days!
I agree Trish - I've been looking at that same "Almost Our Turn" for weeks... and now she wants feedback... my feedback is to update your "blog" at least every other week! Your going to only get us because everyone else gave up on checking for updates - and only your LOVING SISTERS are devoted enough!
Anyways my comfort food is a yummy stew or soup that fills the house with a great smell. And of course homemade sugar cookies, which by the way you and Trish owe me a few dozen of (each that is) for all those years Mom and I made them for you and all your college friends who we "couldn't forget"!
Love you see you soon!
