I DROVE HOME FROM WORK ON THE FREEWAY TODAY. Not all of you know how much I fear the freeways here during rush hour. Driving on them is an extremely stressful affair for me - people are speeding, cutting each other off, and it is congested! Up until today, I have only braved these busy roads on weekends or during lunch when it's not quite as scary...and even then I find myself holding my breath until I exit.
My inspiration for today's big move was carpooling with my friend Kelley on Wednesday. She too can be nervous driving, but has recently started freeway-ing to and from work herself. I watched her comfortably drive each way and we made it in one piece! In the end, the drive TO work was not really appealing, but the way home felt do-able.
After work today, I took a deep breath and entered I-10 confidently. Easily merging onto the 202, and then the 143, I didn't find myself stressed at all!! YAY for me!! I seriously can't believe I did it and feel so good that I did. Instead of taking 40 minutes to get home, I was walking in my front door in only 20.
I am very pleased with today's accomplishment - what a way to end the week!!

You would HATE driving here. It's a disaster. Italy is worse. If you had to live here, you'd want to live by the train station and use it. It took me several weeks of driving before I didn't nearly pee my pants every time. Just learning how to navigate a round about was enough to give me a migrane.
Glad to see you braved the interstate. I used to hate it too. Especially when driving in NY after living in AK (no traffic). Now, I think I'd be a road raging queen. We'll see...I'm not sure much would phase me now.
What a big girl! I'm so proud of you Amie Leigh!
I'm so glad you did it!! I am a total freeway driver...I will go out of my way just to take a freeway :) I am so happy for you and all the extra free time you will have!!
