Javalicious

I like coffee. A lot. So much that I gave it up for Lent – 40 days sans coffee in order to prove to God and myself that I can and will sacrifice for him. Now that’s devotion! I stuck to my promise for the whole time and therefore yesterday, Easter morning, I woke up excited about my first taste of the yummy substance in over a month.

I indulged in 2 cups while watching the morning news and couldn’t say no to my third and fourth cups last night after Easter dinner (spiked with Baileys this time). Well did I pay for going all out! I was up most of the night…wide-eyed and staring at the ceiling for an hour and a half in bed before I decided to head to the guest room and see if a little TV would help. Not so much. I think I was up until about 2am enjoying the Food Network while every now and then mixing in a little QVC or HSN for good measure.

This morning, I woke up groggy…dragged my feet to work and this time indulged in a caffeine-free cup of joe. The trace amounts of caffeine that exist in this brew were enough to get me through the day and will give me a better chance of a good night's sleep tonight. Regardless of the caffeine content, I am a happy girl again with my tasty treat! Until next year...

I have a love affair with coffee here. It is so much better than in the states. Wow. I even gave up my drip coffee pot for a French press and use an Italian stove top coffee maker for lattes. Cafe is a way of life for most europeans. Even more so than us. Glad you like it. When you visit us, you'll be high on caffeine, that's for sure!
