Product Rave - Envirosax

A few weeks ago, after emptying several grocery bags and adding them to my grocery bag pile in the corner of my closet, I was reminded of the ridiculous waste that we create when going to the grocery store each week. I had originally considered bringing back some plastic bags to reuse, but never seemed to remember until I was checking out and it was too late. So, I decided that I needed to find COOL, easy-to-remember bags for my grocery shopping needs. Envirosax are what I selected. (Click title of this blog posting for a link until I figure out how to imbed it as I should! Nat- I'll have to get instructions from you!). Found on Delight.com for about $35 + shipping, I received five beautiful bags that I never forget! In beautiful bright colors, they conveniently roll up and snap closed. I can easily fit all 5 in my purse if I think I'm going to need them (though each bag carries about 2 normal grocery bags worth of goods). I usually carry one in my purse at all times, and when we have grocery or any other shopping planned, I add another one or two.

If you haven't already "made the switch", I suggest you invest in these bags. They come in several different color combinations and can fit into anyone's style. Either way, I recommend checking out Delight.com - it is a very cute boutique website with gift ides for everyone - in all different price ranges. My order came beautifully wrapped in tissue and was obviously sent with care.

Anyone else have any other favorite eco-friendly items to share?

I have tons of eco-friendly suggestions! Some are on my sister site: www.mcquiltonfamilysprouts.blogspot.com

Use reusable water bottles such as SIGG or Klean Kanteen. Both found at www.reusablebags.com Get a water filter, ditch the store bought water (it's a gimmick anyway) and fill your reusable water bottle.

Use bar rags instead of paper towels! Most stores sell white ones in bulk. I got 12 for $5 at Sam's Club.

Hang dry your clothes during warmer months. Your clothes will last longer, your electric bill will go down. Just fluff briefly after to get the stiffness out.

Replace all bulbs with energy efficant ones!

Do NOT use Bleach! It's bad for your clothes and the environment. Use an OxyClean type whitner instead.

Make your own cleaning products. There are tons of books out there to help guide you in making eco-friendly, kid-safe products. Or, buy the several safer ones out there in the health food section of stores.

I'm with Amie about the bags! NO EXCUSES! Most stores even sell them now for no more than a buck. And, if you're in the San Fran area, you won't find plastic bags anyway. They banned them a year ago! Soon, each State will follow. You may as well get on board now!
