A Fun Trip Home

Jay and I returned this past Tuesday from a fun and busy trip home to Vermont.

Upon arriving after taking the red-eye, we stopped by the Lang House - the historic bed and breakfast where we will be spending our wedding night. I wanted to take a look at our room :)

Next, we stopped by Oakledge Park - where our Welcome Dinner will take place on Friday night after the rehearsal. It was a beautiful day and the freshly mowed grass smelled wonderful! I'm glad we stopped by here so that I can better visualize it while finishing up planning back here in Phoenix!

After a relaxing night at home, Friday was jam-packed with appointments! Mom, Stacy and I started with my hair and makeup trial (sorry, no pics), followed by lunch at Mirabelles, one of my favorite breakfast/lunch places in town. My friend & bridesmaid Leah was nice enough to watch Stacy's puppy Trapper at her store while we ate.

Next, we met up with Jay at Vermont Tent Company to check out chair covers & ties for the reception. It was quick & painless! After that, one of my favorite parts of wedding planning so far: we met up with our ceremony musician Jerome at the church to select our music. Instead of playing a CD with the options, he took out his guitar and played/sang for us! It was awesome and several of the songs brought tears to my eyes!

The last appointment of the day was meeting with the Boat to discuss/finalize the menu and check out the arrangement of tables, etc. My aunt Valerie met up with us since she's handling the flowers for the big day! She had some great ideas and I can't wait to see it all come together!

That night, we had a lovely dinner at Taste with Valerie & uncle George. My cousin Andrew is a chef there, so it was even tastier than normal!! Afterwards, we went to Val & George's house so Jay could meet their chickens and we could relax with a glass of wine. They were nice enough to give us some of the fresh eggs that their chickens had recently laid!

Saturday, we got up early & headed across Lake Champlain on the ferry to visit my maid of honor Julie in upstate New York at her and her husband's new house! Here are some of my favorite parts of their new pad:

Organization Wall in the kitchen

The house was "wired" for 3 kegs - so you can have beer on tap whenever you want it!!

Finally - their lovely recycling center - how freaking awesome!! It was love at first sight :)

Saturday afternoon, Julie came back to the Vermont side of the lake with us to visit Emily, Geoff and their new baby Sophia. She is just adorable and we had a great time!

Saturday night was my bachelorette party! We started with dinner - here is a picture of all of us. My mom left after dinner, the rest of us drank the night away and had a great time barhopping in my hometown! It was a blast!

Sunday, after waking up with a bit of a headache I must admit, was my bridal shower. It was THE most perfect day of the weekend and it was a great time! The food was delicious...

The favors were beautiful flower pots with soil & seeds and a really cute poem that Leah wrote...

Here is a pic of Mom and 5 out of 7 of the bridal party!

It was just a perfect visit and we had a wonderful time! Here is one last picture - Jay and I in front of Leah's beautiful red barn which we are hoping that some day we will have one just like it!!

Wow, Amie I am so jealous of your trip back East! I miss NH terribly and it's so nice to see some pictures from New England. Your BIG day is approaching fast!!!! I pray your weather will be beautiful. When Eric and I were married in New Hampshire, October 8, 2005 we had Hurricane type rains, ALL DAY! But that's New England for you!!!! They say though if it rains on your wedding day that just means Good luck so either way you and Jay will be fortunate and blessed:)

Are you going to be at Kiera's birthday deal this next weekend?
