I. LOVE. MONSOON SEASON.

Tonight was the first night of the year I heard the grumbling thunder of a monsoon storm. For the past few days, I've seen the big cumulus clouds building around the valley...but they stayed to the North or East. I knew at some point the storms would push into Phoenix which meant that RAIN would come!! Tonight Jay and I were watching a movie when I heard the crash of thunder.

I'm not kidding when I say this. I bolted up off the couch and opened the front door to stand outside and take a look at the purple sky. At the same time, Jay turned on the computer so we could check the radar. No rain yet, but it looked like the storm had passed to the Southwest. Back to the movie for about half an hour, then BOOM! It's back, this time with the pitter patter of rain on the sidewalk! Again, I jump off the couch and step outside to feel the rain on my feet. Aaaahhhh the air smelled SO good!! I sat on my living room floor outside of the now open front door to take in the beautiful smell and cooler air of our first monsoon storm.

The storm has now passed, the movie is done, and Jay has gone to the gym (it's 11:50pm!!!)...so just thought I'd take this moment to share with you my favorite part of an Arizona summer. Here's to more rainy nights!!

did anyone ever tell you that you are a big dork! Well, you are.

off to celebrate the 4th with a nice 5K race in Yorktown at Surrender Field. I feel so patriotic! I'm even dressed in Red, White and Blue for the occasion.

I totally believe this... every time a storm blows in when Amie is at our house in Kansas City she likes to go out to the covered gazebo in the backyard and take it in. Rain sounds. Rain smells. The whole sha-bang.
