Today was an exciting day due to the fact that lunch took place at LoLo's! Known for their famous Chicken n’ Waffles, it is a favorite for those that have been there…and for those that haven’t, you should definitely try!
My friends from work – Tina, Sophia, and Cheryl (we missed you Kelley & Denise!) left around 11am in order to beat the crowds. We got there just in time to beat the rush of people getting dropped off outside in order to put their names on the list. We had a 20 minute wait in the Phoenix summer heat, but cold water and good conversation passed the time quickly.
We were seated at a great table in the least cramped room of the tiny house that makes up this delicious lunch spot. Sophia and I were quick to order Red Koolaid to drink, something that I’m quite sure you can’t get at many restaurants these days! Drinks come in big glass mason jars with a straw and couldn’t be a better sign of a summer day. They make their Koolaid with extra sugar I’m sure as the fruit punch flavored beverage brought me back to the old days back home & how I used to make it when I was “in charge”.

I ordered a fried chicken breast along with a side of mac n’ cheese while the other girls ordered combinations of chicken, waffles, mac n’ cheese, French fries, and corn bread. As most of you know, I do not support fake maple syrup, so that’s the reason I passed on the waffles. Next time, I’ll either bring my own syrup or eat one with the delicious pad of butter that it comes served with! The food was fantastic – the best fried chicken I think I’ve ever had and the mac n’ cheese was super cheesy…REAL tasting cheese too, definitely not Velveeta or something like that. The girls that ordered waffles gobbled them up (and commented that they tasted like they had a hint of cinnamon and/or vanilla mixed in) and the fries (new to the menu) were tasty as well.

It truly was a lunch to remember and I’m so glad to share it with my friends!
